[How we met and a timeline
since:]
Kevin and I met at the end
of my freshman year <’97> at a water polo party, I was 15 and Kevin was
16. Ironically enough it was a ‘truth or dare’ game that introduced us!
We started dating a few months later during that summer and dated on and
off
through high school. After Kevin’s graduation he joined the delayed
entry program in the US Navy, where they paid him and put him through a
year of college. A year later when I graduated and Kevin finished his
1-year of school he went off to boot camp in Illinois, in August of
2001, and I began college myself. When Kevin finished boot camp he was
moved to South Carolina for A-school and power school. While there we
dated for a couple of months, but the long distance thing was expensive
and rough on both of us. So, On December 27th 2001 Kevin proposed to me
while he was on holiday vacation from A-school. Then, shortly thereafter
we eloped. March 4th 2002, Kevin and I were married in Casselberry FL.

Since then, we have moved from South Carolina to New York to military
housing near the navy base in Connecticut, to our very first home that
we purchased in September of 2004, Then after we sold that house we
purchased another house in Saint Marys, GA in 2007! Right now
Kevin is a first-class petty officer on Shore duty, and I am
a stay at home mom with the 2 kiddos! ......
[9-10-05]
I took a sociology class this past summer, and learned some really
interesting things! I never thought I would be one to enjoy a sociology
class but it was very interesting and I passed with flying colors. Since
then I have been working full time for Home Depot's Installation
Services program as a 'lead generator', Which basically means I sign
customers up for free estimates for all of the things we install through
Home Depot. Its a very laid back job and I enjoy it quite a bit since I
just get to talk to customers all day long!:)
Kevin and I have also been working on remodeling our house. We have made
a lot of progress in the last month or so. We have now put down a new
floor in the kitchen installed fans in several rooms and planted some
flowers and prettied up the yard some. We also started to remodel the
spare room and bathroom upstairs. We took out the plaster walls in the
spare room and put up drywall and insulation and that is coming along
nicely. The bathroom is mostly done but still need to put in a tile
floor and finish the molding. Kevin also wants to make a small room for
an office in the basement, but hopefully we will finish the projects we
have started before starting new ones!!:)
Kevin has also finally made his first trip on a submarine. After almost
5 years in the Navy as a sailor and he went for a short ride from July
25th to August 22nd. We both seemed to take it as well as could be
expected. I stayed busy with friends for the most part, and also had
Kevin's brother to help with things like, taking out the trash, and
taking care of the bats flying around my house at night. <yes I said
BATS!> I also realized that Copper is a bat killer! He leaps into the
air and snatches them and throws them to the ground and kills them! He
got 4 this summer! My great little bat killer! Kevin seemed to be ok
with the underway as well, kept in contact with me quite a bit and got
to learn a little more about the boat, and how things are different when
the boat is underway.
Other then that not much else has changed, Munchkin has a litter of very
cute little puppies that are officially all sold and the only people I
am waiting on to get their puppies is mom and Grace, and they will be
getting theirs in another month. There are lots of pictures the the
Photo Gallery of the puppies.

As of 11/11/05 I took 3 pregnancy tests and all came out positive! So I
went to the doctor on the 14th and had a blood test done and it was
confirmed. I am pregnant! Finally going to be a mommy!! Until I go for
an ultrasound or I am told otherwise, I am due on July 20th, of 2006. I
go for my first appointment on 12/8/05 and should get to hear a
heartbeat then! that will be exciting!!! YAY! so from now on, for
updates on the pregnancy I will be updating the "pregnancy progress"
link often with new symptoms and news. But for now, since it is still so
early...everyone keep me in your prayers, and hope that this little baby
will stick around until the end!
[7/9/2006]
Baby Alana was born on 7/3/06, weighing in at 7lbs 15oz and 20 1/2in.
long! We are so excited with the new arrival, and cant wait for her to
meet all the family! Hard to believe already a week has passed since my
little girl was born! Still trying to get into a schedule and get things
settled around the house, but we are enjoying every min.!
[10/3/06]
Well Kevin has left on his first 6 month deployment and I am on my way
to FL to stay with family. He left on the 29th of September and the next
morning I was on my way to VA, with my mom, to pick up Lisa and Hunter
to come to FL with me, since Bobby is leaving for deployment too. Hoping
it makes time pass faster while being in FL with all the family around
and learning to be a new mommy! Ill keep you posted with lots of
pictures and updates on Alana and I through the next 6 months while
Kevin is gone!
[3/8/07]
Well its almost time for Kevin to come home now, and these past 6 months
have actually gone by pretty quickly! Its amazing how you learn quickly
to survive without someone very important to you...I just hope it is as
easy to learn to have him there again! Alana has grown and changed so
much since he has been gone its going to be interesting to see his
reaction to her changes. When he left she just laid there and was just
learning to smile, now she crawls everywhere laughs, smiles, says mama
dada baba and makes all kinds of other noises! Kevin got to see both of
us in San Diego over New years while he was in port, but even the
difference from then till now is amazing! I cant wait for him to get
home and get life back to normal!
Soon after he comes home, we are going to be finishing the house and
getting it ready to be sold. The plan is to be moving south before
October of this year. Hopefully to Georgia but we wont know until it
gets closer when and where we will be moving. I'll keep everyone posted
as the year continues!
[7/17/07]
Well more fun updates for us, Kevin has been home from deployment for a
few months now and we are almost finished fixing up the house to sell.
Although while we are still putting the finishing touches on the house
we have already put it up for sale by owner on a site called
www.militarybyowner.com and
we are waiting to hear any response to that soon! Other then that we
found out around mothers day this year that we are expecting a new baby
in January! We are both very excited even though it happened a lot
faster then we both expected!
We are still waiting to get official orders of where we are going next
and as soon as I hear something you all will be first on my list of
people to update! But as of right now we have potential orders to
Georgia waiting for us, but they are giving Kevin's choice orders a
chance to be approved. As soon as we hear if they are approved or not
then we can move forward and will have official orders shortly
thereafter! As of right now we are expecting to be moving in the last
week of September which doesn't give us much time to sell the house and
be ready, but we will manage!
[7/27/07]
Well to make a LONG story short:) first of all we decided to use a
realtor since we didn't have very much time to sell and we couldn't
take a chance on not selling it in time...so we went with a friend
of ours more or less <a guy on Kevin's boat, his girlfriend is a
realtor> I had just started the contract with her 2 days ago and we
haven't even gotten pictures taken and online and officially
'listed' or anything and today a guy says he saw our for sale by
owner sign out front and they are looking for a house and went to
the bank that morning to get pre approved and it just so happens
that they went to Navy Fed. for the approval to since the guy is a
veteran and the woman works for the government...so anyways they
walk over to look at the house since they are currently renting down
the street! and LOVE the house...and want to put in an offer and
want to have a contract written for the bank by Tuesday so they can
lock in a good interest rate...so we call our realtor and she came
over tonight, they came back over wrote a contract with her <since
they didn't have a realtor already, which is a bonus to us because
her % goes down since she is rep. both of us!!> and then we signed
it!!!! so we sold our house for the asking price!! or at least I can
say we have it under contract!!!:) so as soon as Kevin gets orders
and we can schedule the move then we will schedule closing...we just
know that it has to be before Sept 30th as per the contract. So with
in the next month I could be headed to FL!!!! so everyone pray or
wish us luck or knock on some wood or whatever it is you do that all
the financing for this couple goes through without a problem so we
don't have problems closing, and we are out of here!!!! I am so
excited! Just trying not to be too totally crazy since obviously it
aunt over until the bank sends the check type of thing...but still!!
OK so that is the update for now...Kevin said by the end of next
week he should have some news on his orders and we will find out
from there what the dates will be!:) YAYAYAYAYAYYAYAYA!
[9/23/07]
We were able to
sell the house in just a week of having it on the market so to say and
that was really just on the for sale by owner market! but fortunately a
neighbor down the street from us that was renting was looking to buy,
and came to see the house and loved it from the first moment! And better
yet they offered to pay our asking price which helped us out greatly! So
we got ready to close within 3 or 4 weeks and closed and my mom and I
headed to FL and left Kevin in CT for another month to finish out his
tour.
While I have been
in FL, my mom and I have gone to look at houses in north FL and in GA.
We didn't find much in GA unfortunately since that would be close to
where he will be working, but we did find a few nice houses in north FL
only about 30 min from his work. The one we are currently most
interested in, is a beautiful log cabin built in 1983, it is about
2300sqft and needs a little bit of work since it is a foreclosure and
hasn't been lived in for almost a year or so! but nothing that Kevin
cant handle and we have the potential of making a great deal of money on
this house in the next 3 years as well! So please lots of prayers from
everyone willing, that whatever we do put an offer on, will go well for
us! and as soon as I get more news I will pass it on to everyone!
[11/14/07]
Well, as some or most of you know, we gave up on the log cabin that
we were looking at in Yulee. They were trying to play us for fools,
and they were taking way to long to get things settled! So we told
them to take there broken down, termite infested house and find
someone else willing to pay full price for it! So anyways, we
started looking in Yulee, FL and St Mary's, GA again, and ended up
finding a few thing in both places but decided against Yulee since
it was going to be quite the commute for Kevin <about 45 min 1 way>
and while the houses all had property <an acre or more> they were
all also Mobile homes. So we decided on a great little house in St
Mary's, Ga. Its right outside the base. A 3br/2ba with a 2 car
garage and fenced in yard in a great little neighborhood and I am
walking distance from the community pool and park. We put in an
offer and they accepted. So as of now we are set to close on the
14th of December. A bit close to Christmas and my due date, but we
will take what we can get!:) Anyways that's where we are at for now!
Thanks for all the prayers with the log cabin and all, I think the
'right thing' for us happened with that! There are pictures of the
house from when we went to see it in the photo gallery tab!:)
[1/2/08]
Well, Lots of news to share since the last update. We signed on our
new house in GA on the 14th of December and got most of the way
settled before the holidays. Then while down here for Christmas and
New Years, Damien James decided he was going to make his appearance
early and be born 3 weeks early just like his sister! So, on
December 27th, Damien James Holloway was born, 7lbs 13oz and 20
1/2in. long! He is precious and doing well aside from some small
complications with Jaundice just like his sister, and a slow start
on eating and pooping ;) He is doing great now though, and gaining
weight quickly I believe. Christmas went well for all of us and
Alana made out great with lots of new toys and fun stuff! Thank you
all for the wonderful things she got and the gift cards and other
gifts for the house and everything else that we got for Christmas
this year! They are all Great! Beyond that not a whole lot is going
on for us right now. We are looking forward to getting into our new
house with our 'whole' family and get settled!
[3/30/08]
Well our
little man is 3 months old now and Alana is almost 21 months now!
They are both doing great and settling into a schedule well! Damien
is sleeping about 8-10 hours a night and eating about 4-5 times a
day, he is such an easy going baby. He has started to coo, and
laugh. and he is very easy to make laugh too! It amazes me to think
he is already 3 months old and one of these days I am going to wake
up and it is going to be his first birthday! Time is flying so fast!
Alana is
talking up a storm now, more and more understandable as well. I
understand a lot of what she says and she is getting better daily!
We are working on potty training, and its a slow and steady
process:) I am hoping to at least be onto maybe pull-ups or
something by her 2nd birthday but its not an easy task especially
when I am alone all day and she usually asks to go potty while I am
feeding Damien! UGH! But we will keep to it and see how it goes! Our
only dilemma at the moment is where to have her 2nd birthday. While
I want to have it here at our new house, I want the family to be
able to make it and I don't know if that is just wishful thinking!:)
Kevin is
getting ready to have his vision correction surgery in the next
month or so. He has a class he has to take that explains the
procedure and then a consultation to determine what surgery he will
have, then the final appointment will be set. We are hoping for the
first week in May. He is excited but nervous.
I am LOVING
the new house, and getting into a good schedule of housework and
kids and me time! It seems to be working well so far ;) Kevin and I
have also started a membership at the YMCA up here, and have been
working out 3 times a week and trying to watch what we eat. Both of
us are looking to lose some weight and get in shape this year! So
hopefully by Christmas we will be much smaller/healthier!
STAY TUNED FOR FUTURE UPDATES!!! |
